Dichroic glass, invented for the aerospace industry, mimics the wonderful iridescent patina of centuries old roman glass.
This original piece of art glass was handmade in the Sunrise Glass Art studio in New York. Glass pieces were carefully cut and layered in a kiln, then fired to around 1400 degrees F. The glass was annealed in a slow cooling process for strength and durability.
This multi-strand beaded necklace, featuring the fused glass pendant, was hand-beaded by artist Karen Mahoney. The necklace includes soft strands of colored cords, accented by offset beads. The pendant is a medium-sized piece, 1.5 inches long from top to bottom. The necklace is 17 to 18 inches long (without/with the extending chain) and closes with a lobster clasp.
